Meet Jessica Rothbaum
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and PCIT certified therapist (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy)
My Approach
My approach to therapy is to create a warm, nonjudgmental space that feels meaningful and engaging. I believe in drawing on your internal strengths to access the built-in resources needed to make meaningful changes when given a safe, supportive space to process and heal.
In my sessions, I combine play and expressive therapies with parent-child dyadic work to support parents and their children as they navigate through and find resilience within life’s challenges. In meeting with caregivers, I focus on helping them acknowledge and expand on their strengths, connect positively with their children, and feel empowered. I work with children, teens, and young adults to enjoy meaningful relationships, adjust to change, handle conflict, make sense of their thoughts and emotions, and feel good about who they are.
With a special interest in the parent-child relationship, I am devoted not only to helping parents survive difficult parenting moments, but also supporting them in a way that lets their children grow and learn new ways of dealing with uncomfortable emotions. I have my certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for children (2-7) experiencing big outward displays of emotion. We work on co-regulation and responding in-the-moment to meet the child's needs.
I am also a SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood emotions) provider, offering parents supportive strategies for increasing their child's independence and confidence.
